SPORTS CLUB D. JOÃO II SCHOOL
​
The Club was founded on November 24, 2010, by its current president, teacher Luís Silva. Its purpose is the training and competition training in different sports, the organization of sportive and competitive events, the practice of cultural and recreational activities for the occupation of leisure, as well as the production of research in the areas of training, exercise and health.
​
In its 10 years of history, has developed activity in the modalities of Tennis, Table Tennis, Futsal, Chess, Zumba and Fencing. Fencing has been decreasing in the last years, currently having only one sports section whith 4 practitioners. On the other hand, the recreational and leisure aspect has been increasingly successful, and its main activity is the promotion of Summer Camps (summer school interruption).

It currently has about 40 members, and its president is still its founder, Luís Silva, an effective Physical Education teacher at D. João II School. The club has only one Facebook page where it is spreading its activity [https://www.facebook.com/CDED.Joao2].

The Municipal Council of Santarém is an autonomous organ of this city and its mission is to define and execute policies in order to defend the interests and satisfy the needs of the local population.

STUDY ASSOCIATION AND DEFENSE OF THE HISTORIC-CULTURAL HERITAGE OF SANTARÉM​

This Association was founded in 1978 and it aims to safeguard and enhance the monumental, urbanistic, ethnographic and cultural aspects of the city and the region, as well as study and research; safeguarding and enhancing the species that constitute a historical and cultural heritage, the conservation not only of the work itself, but also its urban, landscape, historical and regional framework; the knowledge of the history of the city and the region in its socioeconomic, political, artistic and archaeological aspects; wide, enlightened and dynamic dissemination to the population of the city, municipalities and institutions; awakening and framing the youth (cultural formation and heritage preservation); contribute to the archaeological and artistic inventory, cultural exchange with other regional areas.
