Biržai Kaštonai Basic School, Lithuania

The school is located in a small town of Biržai in the northern part of Lithuania. Kaštonai is a lower secondary school, there are 19 classes with 332 students. There are 38 teachers, 1 social worker, 1 special teacher and logotherapist in the institution. There are some students at school which come from a social risk families or have one or both parents in emigration. Every year the school provides students from social risk families with the opportunity to attend summer day camp. Many students have been involved in different extra curriculum activities. The school is open to the dialogue with other institutions and sets a goal to improve in different areas. We are planning to continue to be involved in international projects as this is a good way to share the experiences and to gain new knowledge which is so important in both teaching and learning processes.

There are a lot of after school activities: singing and dancing groups, football team, track-and-field athletics team, a circle of basics of tourism, a group of  non-traditional handicrafts.
